About This Spot

Tucked away along the winding roads of Rhododendron, Fernie’s Coffee Rhody is the kind of cozy mountain retreat that feels like a secret waiting to be discovered. There’s an inviting warmth that greets you—a gentle mix of fresh mountain air mingling with rich coffee aromas, and the quiet hum of friendly chatter that makes it feel less like a stop and more like a shared moment with familiar faces. Time here slows down just enough for you to savor the little things.

The pace is relaxed but energized, a place where locals and travelers alike find a pause between their adventures. Inside, the atmosphere is unpretentious yet thoughtful, carrying the subtle charm of a kitchen where recipes have been perfected over generations. It’s where unexpected delights appear, whether it’s in a steaming cup topped with homemade whipped cream or the comforting embrace of biscuits and gravy brightened with a touch of hot sauce.

Morning light filtering through the windows invites you to indulge in breakfast or lunch offerings that feel both playful and grounded—like a bagel sandwich made with care or a mocha that comforts and refreshes in equal measure. Here, each sip and bite carries a little story. You’ll notice the care in the crafted drinks, from invigorating iced coffees to the nuanced layers of a peppermint mocha or a rare maple-infused brew with hints of ginseng and chaga.

More than just a coffee shop, Fernie’s serves as a gentle crossroads between the mountain’s rugged spirit and the cozy conversations that unfold over shared meals. The genuine kindness of the team, who seem to know their way around not just coffee but the mountain life, makes every visit feel personal. Whether you’re seeking a warm breakfast before hitting the trails or a peaceful midday break, the experience is quietly memorable—like catching up with an old friend in an unexpected place.

The cutest coffee shop, located in the mountains. Got their “Autumn” specialty mocha (with non-dairy milk!) and it was to die for. The perfect beverage while driving through the winding roads.

I've been to a TON of coffee shops in my travels and this one for sure stands out as one of the more memorable spots. The coffee was very tasty and they had a ton of unique flavor profiles to play with. The food was insanely good! The bagels were made fresh locally that morning and made for a delicious bagel sandwich. My wife had the biscuits & gravy which was also excellent. The staff behind the counter was super friendly & very helpful for making choices. Just 10/10 service. Would for sure come back next time I'm in the area

You NEED to try Fernie’s ! Loved their biscuits and gravy!! Coffee was so delicious. Couldn’t take a picture because we were enjoying the moment with a hot cup of coffee and a hot meal! I wanted to stop a second time to try their sandwich’s and redbull infusions, but I was so full I couldn’t come up with a better reason. Best food and atmosphere. Thank you, yall! Much love from California !

Hole in the wall/mountain, roadside gourmet! Cute, energetic, and adorably friendly gals made it feel like visiting aunties house. The caliente mocha was supreme and those NO EXTRA COST ROASTED MARSHMELLOWS on my BFF drink were better than icing on a cake! Then... They hit you with these steaming hot biscuits and gravy - I know this is someone's grandma's secret recipe, because it has been perfected! The absurd amount of hot sauce options, get out! I drank all my drink and ate all my food before I remembered to grab a picture, it was that heavenly!

My family will always come back here on our way to Mount Hood. While the exterior is not imposing, the coffee they serve is truly delicious. They also make their own homemade chocolate whipping cream for kid's hot chocolates. Both the ladies helped me with weather updates and general mountain information. I got a house coffee that must have been sourced from somewhere special - it was deep, complex strong and perfectly brewed. My wife got a decaf latte that was also wonderful, bright and bold. One of my kids said: "this hot chocolate is the best I've ever tasted!"

So, while traveling east bound on 26 heading to painted hills, we saw saw this awesome looking coffee shop and had to stop. I'm so glad we did. The place was so cool looking astaticly. Then the service was so friendly and welcoming, just amazing. We only stopped for coffee, being that we had breakfast nit long before. If you've been here, you KNOW! But if yoyr passing by, I recommend you stop to check it out, I dont think you'll be disappointed

just like everyone else has said… once food came out it was so good we devoured it before thinking to take photos!! We had: *the biscuits n’gravy* certainly the house specialty and yes, it is a culinary triumph Also had the breky jalapeño Asiago jazzy bagel w egg cheese and avocado w *roasted garlic schmear* exceptionally good bagel Finally we had the caliente dark chocolate mocha. we savored every sip. no kidding. and all of this for $26. Tiny place, big flavors. awesome friendly staff. limited bench seating, but who cares!!! absolutely recommend trying

Lovely staff, amazing food (biscuits and gravy is worth the hype), and a cute little walk-up cafe with tons of doggie pics and fun things to look at. Drinks were super flavorful and delicious!
